What is the latest technology introduced in digital cameras?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 in latest digital cameras by admin

I am planning to write a technical paper on technology related to digital cameras, coz i m a big fan of photography and i love to play with cameras. Pls, some guidance needed.

Live view on an DSLR. It was done several years ago with the Oly E-300, not done and then re-introduced in by Olympus (they were the first ones to do it). Even most SLR users don’t know about it. It’s pretty nifty if you need to make sure you have sharp focus on a hard to judge shot but it cannot make the noise factor heat up. Not something to use everyday but when you need it, I imagine it would be a great thing to have.

What Nikon camera should I buy?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 in nikon camera by admin

I am an aspiring photographer and I am planning on buying my first big camera this weekend. I know I want a Nikon but dont know which I should get? I want a high quality camera that will take great pics but wont put me in the hole. Also, does anyone know if they make film cameras anymore? If so, where can I find one? It seems like everyone has gone digital these days. Thanks!

I would say that the NIkon D80 would be the best camera that you can start with, reason being, is very versatile, easy to use, decent when it comes to results and the price on it is right. I wonder who is not put in a "triple hole" by the D3 :) You can find the D80 with a 18-135 mm lens for about 1k on bhphotovideo.com

How does the quality of a 4meg digital camera compare with a, let’s say,12 meg camera on a standard size photo?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 in compare camera by admin

If one has a 12 meg digital camera, are its pictures necessarily better on a standard photo 4"x6" photo than a 4 meg camera? Can the 12 meg put more pixels in that size photo than a 4 meg? I know there is an advantage when larger sizes are taken. Please enlighten me on this.

You won’t notice any difference at all on a 4×6 photo. The printer doesn’t print at high enough resolution to squeeze those extra 8mp onto the paper. You’ll only notice a difference if you want LARGE prints or if you want to digitally crop your images. In all honesty, for most general use you don’t need anything more than 5mp.

An average price camera to take simple sport pictures of?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 in price camera by admin

It’s for the athletic department at my school. They’re willing to pay around $400 dollars. I was thinking of the Canon S5 IS..It’s a pretty nice camera. Maybe even the S3 because they don’t need that many megapixels. No DSLR’s … I have one and I take pictures of the sporting events with it, but they need a camera for when I’m not there.

the s3 is an excellent choice
it has better reviews than the s5
go for it

Best Camera?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 in best camera by admin

What is the best digital camera for a waana be photographer to start off with?

The short answer to your question is… the camera isn’t as important as the photographer. Someone once told me "If you can shoot pool, you can use a broom stick and play well." Basically the same applies here. If you know how to set up a shot – composition, lighting, white balance etc – you can do well with almost any camera out there.

As for choosing a brand of camera, you can ask 5 different people and get 5 different answers. I’m a fan of Canon. I’ve always had Canons. That doesn’t mean they’re inherently "better" than the others, it’s just what I’m used to using. All of my lenses are for Canon. Which by the way if you’re interested in buying a DSLR, it’s the lenses that make the difference and not necessarily the camera body. Nowadays they all have their pros and cons. Your best bet is to do some research on the different cameras in your price range. There are a lot of Digital Photo Review websites to get this info all over the web. My suggestion would be the Canon Digital Rebel. But then again I like Canon.

While getting a 35mm SLR is one way to "learn" about the different aspects of photography, it is a digital world and if you’re not a die hard film person to start, getting a film camera just to learn is an added expense that I don’t think is necessary. To me digital is better to learn with because you can instantly see how your shot came out and change things immediately without waiting for the developed pics to come in.

Good luck and remember the person behind the lens is always more important than the equipment.

How do I upgrade the lens of my canon powershot digital camera?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 in canon digital by admin

I have a canon digital camera with a 4x optical zoom. what kind of lens do i look for to upgrade to higher zoom? I am pretty camera dumb but am getting into pics so want a camera that wont get blurry upon getting far a way pics.
I found telephoto lenses that are 3x does that mean that my new zoom would be 7x since I already have a 4x or does it replace what the camera already has? This is where I am getting confused.

Most cheaper non-DSLR cameras will not allow you to upgrade: the most you could hope to do is get an adapter piece and a telephoto mount for it.

This only works if you actually spent good money on that camera, though since most don’t afford it. Plus, telephotos are not worth the money if the zoom is that low, so you should just get a new camera in my opinion.

Edit: A telephoto will compound with your camera’s optical zoom, so 4×3 = 12x zoom.

I should warn that most telephotos tend to make it more difficult to hold your camera in a balanced way and usually require their own stands if you want a clean shot.

What kind of digital camera do you have?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 in digital by admin

I don’t really know anything about digital cameras but I want to buy one. What are the cameras called, that are not digital, just "normal" ones? I used to like those better because the quality seemed to much more professional. The lighting seemed warmer, colors seemed brighter. On digital cameras it seems that everything looks paler, etc. Is it just me? I wanted a digital camera that had those qualities to it, with a good price, if possible. What kind of digital camera do you have?

There are film (some technophobes call them analog) and digital cameras.

There’s nothing more or less "professional" about film or digital. It’s just a personal (or financial) choice everyone has to make for themselves. I used film and love the pictures I got from it, but I believe my digital pictures are every bit as good.

Digital sensors reproduce pictures more like slide/transparency film than print/negative film. If you’ve never shot slides, it can be a more difficult adjustment for many.

The only type of picture that film is significantly better/different than digital is black & white. B&W film is made with silver chunks that give a unique look that is very difficult for digital to reproduce.

If you want the closest to film look, you’ll need a D-SLR with a CMOS sensor (all the new Nikons, D5000 and above as well as Canon & most Sonys).

The biggest advantages for digital are 1) less wasted materials & chemicals and 2)easily switching light sensitivities (ISO) for bright & dark.

I use a Nikon D300 and love it.

You’re responsible for your negligence. Neither the retailer nor the manufacturer can be held responsible for your actions or inactions. Yes, your camera may still be under the manufacturers’ warranty but warranties only cover manufacturing or product defects. Drops and falls qualify as neither.

Even so, if you bought a product from Amazon, Best Buy has absolutely nothing to do with the transaction. Best Buy is a company and they operate as any other company would; they don’t replace broken items to please society. After all, what would anybody do with a broken camera?

The best thing for you to do now is to look for a replacement. Repair service usually costs more than half of a new camera so it wouldn’t make that much sense to pour money into repairing a battered one. The T700 and T77 are two different cameras and that explains the $100 price difference. The T700 has a 3.5" high resolution touch screen and 4GB of internal memory whereas the T77 has a 3" touch screen and only 15MB of internal memory. Other than that and the slight differences in design, they’re essentially the same camera. You’ll have to decide whether the differences are worth your $100.
